In Port de la Selva you will find some of the best beaches in Catalonia.
Many of the beaches have been highlighted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, for the quality of their waters and the care of their environment. You will find many different types of beaches, from fine sand to rounded pebble beaches, due to the action of the sea and the wind over time, but they all have in common the crystal clear water of the Cap de Creus.
Cala Tamariua
Located 1.5 km from the centre of Port de la Selva, it is made up of stones and gravel. It stands out for its tranquillity, in a marvellous space between the rock formations of Cap de Creus. Cala Tamariua is easily accessible on foot (only half an hour from Port de la Selva) or by car (5 minutes), where you can park very close to the cove.
Playa del Paso
It is a 50-metre long beach, formed by grey galets (a small, rounded stone caused by the erosion of the sea). In 2007 it was considered the best beach in Catalonia. In 1997 it was awarded the blue flag by the European Community. It has a bar, showers and is accessible to people with reduced mobility. It has a parking area right next to it.
La playa grande de Port de la Selva
This is the large beach in the town centre and is about 230 metres long and 25 metres wide. It runs from the crossroads leading to Selva del Mar to the port of Moll d'en Balleu. Its sand is made up of sand and large sand and it has all the services. In front of the beach you can find all kinds of shops, restaurants, cafes, The beach is also accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Cala Fornells
It is a small cove of 15 metres mainly formed by galets and stone. The cove is surrounded by rocks, in the middle of a wild and natural environment where you can disconnect from everything. The cove is located 3.7 km from Port de la Selva, where it takes 50 minutes on foot. To get there from Port de la Selva you must first pass through Cala Tamariua. During part of the way you will find a lot of stones and it is advisable to wear suitable footwear for walking.
Playa de Taita
It is located 1 km from Port de la Selva, in the direction of Llança. It is 8 m long and is made of large sand and stones. Nearby there is a garden area and pine trees separating the beach from the road to Llançà, and the coastal path to Llançà also passes by. It can be easily reached on foot from Port de la Selva, as it is a very flat area and very well conditioned by the coastal path. You can also leave your car in the sandy car park at the entrance to Port de la Selva or just above it there is also a parking area .
